Item enhancement framework View Mod
This is a series of dockscreens that allow you to customize the enhancements on your equipment.
Weapons, shields, armors, reactors and drives are all supported.
There's an exhaustive list to choose from and I plan on fine tuning the selections in the final release. They cost money so don't think this is a big free for all!
getting your FFH up to 30 shots/sec will require ALOT of creds.
The prices are currently hardcoded based on the price of the item being enhanced. I'd like some feedback on whether they are too expensive or not.
The enhancements available are controlled by the variable gTechLevel, and in this demo it scales as systemLevel +1.
To try it, simply type "tinkerME" in the console and use the virtual item you're given.
Please report any bugs and suggestions! Thanks

Then again, a FFH at even a fraction of that fire rate (say, 6 shots/second, let alone 10 shots/second) would be insanely powerful already. :D

Neat stuff you made there!

I may be missing something, but nothing useful happens after entering "tinkerME".

you should have an item you can use (press 'U') that will take you to the proper screen.

ptbptb 18.05.2010 20:22

I didn't. No extra item visible on 'U', in cargo bay, or in ship configuration.

digdug 18.05.2010 22:50

ptbptb, you have to type "(tinkerme)" without the quotes buut brackets are necessary to run a function in the console.

Ah, thanks.

I didn't even know there was a console in this game -- how do you access it?

Why not add the item to Starton-Eridani station instead?

digdug 27.05.2010 01:15

start the game with the command line switch /debug, the push F9 while ingame to access the console.

OK, I tried this out for quite a while and came to the conclusion that it's an interesting idea, but doesn't make the game any more fun.

The level limit means that it doesn't give any big boosts, and it's more fun to be surprised by what you can find in loot / shops than use a guaranteed enhancement gimmick.

This could be helpful, if you dont find anything good and have to stick with what you've got.

It allows you to enhance your stuff without hunting for upgrade parts/longzhu spheres/... the like.

So you can keep your equipment for say another 2-3 systems...

Long story short: I like the idea. Wouldnt this make a great addion to the tinker's stations?

I was wondering if you could update this to work with the current version (1.08b)

I liked this mod with previous game versions, but in this current one it throws a 'failed to create item' error.
